Dr. Courtney Kness provides comprehensive eye care for adults and children with particular interests in ocular disease, surgical co-management, contact lenses, and emergency eye care.

Originally from a farm in south-central Nebraska, Dr. Kness earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha before moving to Chicago to pursue her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry, graduating in 2010.

Her clinical experience is notably diverse, spanning private practice in the greater San Diego area as well as rural Nebraska. This breadth of experience has allowed Dr. Kness to care for patients with a wide range of visual and ocular health needs.

Her professional interests include the diagnosis and management of anterior and posterior segment disease, family eye care, myopia management and contact lens fitting. Dr. Kness is laser certified in Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT), Laser Peripheral Iridotomy (LPI), and

YAG Capsulotomy. She is also certified in Corneal Refractive Therapy and provides urgent and emergency eye care.

Dr. Kness brings a thoughtful, practical approach to patient care that reflects both her extensive clinical experience and her Nebraska roots. She is an early riser and stays active by running, working out and coaching her kids’ soccer games! Her laughter is infectious and she values getting to know her patients, explaining their eye health clearly, and helping them make informed decisions about their vision and treatment.
